"Tapestry" by Craig Sodaro.
“Tapestry” by Craig Sodaro has been chosen for this year’s production at LJHS. The story is constructed around the plight of a woman whose husband has been arrested by the King and charged with causing the death of the Prince. The woman, who is known for her beautiful tapestries, is challenged to create one that will convince the King his reasoning is not just. As she weaves, she stories she depicts in her tapestry are presented on stage. The finished tapestry helps the King see the wisdom of the woman, and how his grief clouded his judgment of the events.
This program is an introduction to theater. While we have a great deal of fun, we take the work seriously from an educational standpoint. Students learn a great deal about the profession besides acting. Stage craft, promotion, lighting, sound, and an appreciation for live theater are also components of our project.
The show dates have been moved up this year to April 1 and 2. Although this production is a drama it has its very funny moments. Each “story” has a set of characters that teach a truth the King needs to know. There will be many roles for males and female students.
Auditions will be held January 26 and 28 from 5:00 – 7:30 PM. Be on time! Students must be in “Good Standing” academically and behaviorally to audition and continue to maintain that status throughout February, March, and April. Those who do not wish to be actors may apply to stage manage and must attend on one of these dates. Students will need to pick up audition permission forms in the office and sign up for the night they wish to audition. These will be in the office the week prior to auditions. Forms must be COMPLETED AND SIGNED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN BEFORE A STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO AUDITION!
Audition packets will include a tentative rehearsal schedule. Larger roles require a larger time commitment from the student than other parts. While we try to work around other activities as much as possible, as we get closed to the performance dates, all cast members and crews must be present on a regular basis.
Crew sign-ups will be at a later date. that will be announced later. (Watch the website for those dates.) Crew commitments require less time, but are quite important to a well- run production.
Mrs. Moreland or Mrs. Bailey may be contacted if you have other questions. Parental involvement is needed as well. Ask how you may be able to participate.
